Set at Holme Pierrepont, National Water Sports centre this is really the perfect venue for testing yourself on a perfectly flat course where the tempo is high and the volume is too.
The arena type venue with overlooking grandstand, blaring PA and an atmosphere that sucks you in to racing too fast as the crowd gets to see your every move really makes for raising the pulse and racing beyond what you may believe yourself capable. Its amazing what a bit of crowd motivation can do.
But don't think it is just one big laugh, there will be some serious racing on a completely closed course over which your friends and family can see you (and shout at you) for the duration of all three disciplines. Ever fancied racing a triathlon in an arena, well this is as close as it gets.
The Sprint by virtue of the longer distances may offer a bit more opportunity for tactics and strategy but not much as the tempo remains just off boiling point on a perfectly flat bike course and a perfectly flat run course that lets you settle into a speed that you can keep to for the duration if the crowds allow you to.
As for the name. Well it's a triathlon and it's in Nottingham and we felt the term Robin Hood is just a bit too much of a cliché.
